Ted Deutch- MIA On The Campaign Trail, Hiding From The Public, And Content To Snub Yet Another Public Appearance

Press Release

Date: March 25, 2010
Location: West Palm Beach, FL

In what is becoming a routine occurrence for his absentee campaign, Senator Ted Deutch withdrew from making yet another important public appearance, failing to appear at yesterday's Southeast Florida Chamber of Commerce' Business Expo in Fort Lauderdale, an event which his campaign co-sponsored. To further compound his snub of this gathering of small business owners, the Ted Deutch for Congress campaign did not even bother to send representatives or surrogates from his campaign to the event. Senator Deutch's contempt for the political process is clear as he continues to conduct a shadow campaign for Congress that lacks anything that might resemble actual public campaigning.

"The voters of District 19 want to hold their candidates for public office accountable. It's clear that Senator Deutch is going to extraordinary lengths to make himself inaccessible to the voters of District 19 by continuing to refuse to campaign, debate, or participate in public events throughout the District. He's content to only attend cherry-picked events behind closed doors once every blue moon. Public appearances and the accessibility of aspiring candidates matters to people, and Senator Deutch's actions thus far are a very good indicator of what kind of Congressman he would make- an absentee one who is afraid to engage the public beyond his core supporters, because he knows his agenda is unpopular and indefensible," said Edward Lynch, candidate for Congress in Florida's 19th Congressional District.
